A teenager was raped at the side of the road as she made her way home in Greater Manchester.
The 18-year-old was attacked on a grass verge at the junction of Hill Top Drive and Rudyard Grove in Kirkholt, Rochdale just before 2200 GMT on Tuesday.
She had been visiting a friend when she was sexually assaulted as she made her way home.
The woman is being comforted by specially trained officers and is yet to be formally interviewed by police.
The offender is described as white, between 40 and 50-years-old, 5ft 5in (1.65m) tall, of fat build with short grey hair with a long fringe, bushy eyebrows and a black 'beauty spot' under his left eye.
Det Sgt Jason Burke, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This appears to be an isolated incident and we are doing all we can to identify the man responsible.
"Incidents such as this are rare but I would urge women, where possible, not to walk alone at night and to take extra care during the new year celebrations."
